A Note To Myself :3

Hey, Ma. Rina Jane Carpeso Ranes

1. Take good care of your health.

Never forget that you are no superwoman. You get tired everyday. Eat plenty, never skip a meal, take your vitamin, exercise, and sleep adequately.

Another is, never make it a habit of telling a lie about being okay though you know you're not. There may be times when you have to tell everybody that you are doing well and fine for the purpose of not letting them worry about you. But at the end of the day, you have to admit that you need a nap, a shoulder to lean on, or maybe a hug. You'll be fine just by that. Ü

2. Cherish your family.

Your family will always be that group of people you'll be with from conception until the day you will get old and gray. They are the ones who will not often say through words that they will stick with you through thick and thin, but surely will make you feel the most important person in the world. They might be sometimes the reason of your pain, but never forget that they are your lifetime happiness. They are the most precious and the highly important people in your life. Ü

You should often pray for them and think about nothing than making them feel loved every single day of your life and providing what they need or want. Never let a day pass without making a call or at least texting them how are they. Ease their concerns, make them laugh, scold them if you have to, encourage them, protect them, support them and love them even though they are at their worst. Ü

When you are with your family, you become the happiest person on earth. Ü

3. Protect and retain friendship.

You are blessed for having friends worthy for keep and you as worthy as their keep too. It's just amazing how God has led you to each of them in different ways and realizing how might your life is turning right now without them in the picture. Geeez. You have done the craziest things in the world and yet they're still there to stay with you. They have instantly became an extension of your biological family and you should really grateful for that.

In return, never take a friend for granted. Make them feel important to you and loved by you, say sorry if you get to hurt them, be honest enough to disclose some things you ought to, trust them with all your heart, impart quality time with them, never abandon them especially when they are in need of you, and most importantly, always pray for them. Ü

Rina, you don't need a best friend. You just need a true friend. You must be likewise unto them. Ü

4. Love your work and passion for things you love to do.

You often tell yourself and the people around you that you don't have a talent, that you are no good at almost anything, that you're a failure, and the likes. You discourage yourself so easily. Why like that, huh?

You won't be able to graduate in college if not for your hard work, dedication and perseverance. It doesn't require a student to be talented to graduate, right?

You won't be able to see yourself as a volunteer in some charities and organizations if not for your love of children, passion to help those in need, and for the immeasurable joy you feel of being able to impart your time and resources as your blessings.

Rina, some peole might have told you some descriptions of you like "suplada, mataray, strikta"'. You may not be good as some people do and you may have failed several times already. But you have a good heart (kahit papano). Never forget about that. Just continue what you love to do as long as you don't step on anyone and offer them to God. Ü

And finally...

5. Guard your heart.

Your have been to failed relationships not only once, but twice. Take those experience as a lifetime lesson, a memory to be grateful for, and an inspiration to hold on for the rest of your life. Take advantage of your fear of being in love again. It will help you a lot. Besides, you're not rushing into things right now, right? However, when time comes that God leads you to the man destined for you, you know you'll never cry because of the pain of being left again. That's a guarantee. Ü

Also, never hold grudge to those who hurt you. Instead, love them more. Being able to understand clearly a situation, no matter how a loser you may become to some people, you still rise up a winner. For by hurting, you grow. And by growing, you become stronger. Ü

Ika-disenwebe ng Hunyo

Naniniwala ba kayo sa "Love at First Sight"? Ako hindi.
Sa "Comfort at First Encounter", oo.

According to an author, many Christians who know John 3:16 are not familiar with 1 John 4: 19-21:

"We love because He loved us first. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is liar. For whoever who does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And He has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister."

To me, this connotes that to love implies acceptance of one another as children of God to whom we take credit of every opportunity that comes to love our brethren or to even love more. Love has always been present and will never depart in this world. As believers, all we have to do is to simply nurture and spread that love, but not use it irregularly.

Forever and always, love will always win. It will always prevail. It will always reign. As of the present days that humanity faces a very distinct, more perplexed, confusing, almost destructive issue about morality, the word Love has truly became the most misused word of all.

Brothers and sisters, you and I are called to be shepherd of our own flock and a good shepherd never leaves anyone in his flock behind because he simply loves them for good. To love is to lay down one's life for others, not to degrade them. To love is an act of surrendering one's ego, not to boast. To love is to live by the truth, not to dwell on lies. And to love is to acknowledge that there is God.

And there is One ultimate great author of Love who is Christ, our living God. It is through Him that Love was given life and meaning. And through His death that Love won over sin.

As early as 7:00 in the morning, despite the scorching heat of the sun, YFCs gathered in the open area for the morning worship to begin the second day of Love More conference which was led by Brother Patrick Elicaño from YFC Singapore. Everyone’s mood was uplifted as the exhortation was directed to the root of what real love revolution is, that is the supreme and everlasting love of God for us.
Workshops immediately followed as one of the main highlights every YFC look up to. For this year’s ICON Love More, nine revolutionary workshops were simultaneously conducted in Surigao City, namely: Revolution of the Heart, Revolution of the Mind, Revolution of the Home, Revolution of the Spirit, Revolution of Lifestyle, Revolution for the Church, Revolution in Social Media, Revolution for the Poor, and ROCK Workshop. While those who were at the grandstand had the chance to meet with some priest for confession. Workshops ended at around 2:30 in the afternoon.
A Holy Eucharist followed at 04:00 PM which was presided by Msgr. Edito Alcala. The homily centered on youth idealism on happiness that cannot be acquired nor be measured by anything that the world has to offer. But the kind of happiness that comes even from the weakest point in our lives yet remaining strong and having almost nothing yet hoping in the Lord.
After dinner and few refreshments, YFCs gathered once again for the evening worship as a preparation for the anticipated two consecutive sessions.

            Session 3. Declaration of Dependence
1.   In God’s greatness we see our nothingness
God’s love is so abundant that we are humbled by what we think we are. Recognizing His presence is also acknowledging our weaknesses and nothingness.

2.   Declaration of Sinfulness
We are all called for special mission but oftentimes fall short by being inconsistent, doubtful and impulsive towards dealing with life. All we have to do is to accept and declare that we are sinners while continually being showered by the abundance of the Lord in our lives.

3.   Jesus’ Greatness Over Our Nothingness
We have an all-powerful, all-knowing and all-present God, how can we compare ourselves to that? Every day should be a chance for us to declare how great God is and live the life He entrusted to us.

4.   Declaration of Dependence
We are nothing yet we are still chosen to be loved by Him. We are weak but He remains our foundation of strength. And we sinners but He continues to invite us in reunion with Him. That is why we must always put our ultimate surrender unto God and depend our fate in His plans.

Session 4. Battle Cry Of Love
Speaker: Renjie Villafuerte

1.   God’s love moves us to love Him above all
“Yes Lord, you know that I love you” we often say. But there’s more than proclaiming how much we love the Lord We must also choose to love Him in every aspect in our lives, in words and in deed.

2.   Battle Cry of Passion
From telling the world we love the Lord comes the birth of a burning passion to know and pursue on the mission we are called to. Thus giving more essence to our personal encounter with the Lord.

3.   Battle Cry of Conversion
As we unfold a fruitful relationship with the Lord, it is but inevitable to experience temptations along the way. However, if we hold on to our cry that we love the Lord, we are always called to conversion which begins from receiving forgiveness from the Lord.

4.   Battle Cry of Holiness
As we continue to strive in fulfilling our mission and submitting ourselves to daily conversion, we are also called to be more faithful in the plans of the Lord for us like striving to grow in holiness.

A powerful praise fest then occurred and everyone was on fire to lift and clap their hands as

a manifestation of their burning passion to praise and worship the Lord. Indeed, God’s love overflows, His forgiveness so warm, His presence so touching, and His mercy so igniting. What can we ask for more? All we just have to do is to love more.

CFC- Youth for Christ marked the 7th year of Liveloud concert last June 12, 2015 at the World Trade Center Manila where roughly eleven thousand strong young spirits gathered to connect unanimously with the Lord through singing of praise and worship. The concert was themed “Tear Down Walls” inspired from the Bible reading Joshua 6: 20-21.

Compared to previous Liveloud concerts held, remarkable and notable miracles unfolded and emerged this year as it was the largest Liveloud attendance yet and a truly leap of faith was made possible through the use of 3D Stage Projection Mapping, a “technology used to turn objects, often irregular shaped, into a display surface for video projection” (Wiki).

The concert begun with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist led by Rev. Fr. Jonathan Letada and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Ruper Solis. In the homily, Fr. Solis stressed two important traits of a love that’s true. True love must be generous that one must not think of think of their welfare but for others just as like Christ did for humanity. Giving is not a necessity to love, but one cannot love without giving. Second, true love must be tangible that it must be felt through the heart. God knows our unfaithfulness and sinfulness, yet he still loves us just the same.

Just before the mass ended, Fr. Letada cheerfully expressed thanksgiving to the whole CFC community and to the parents of every YFC member for taking care of the Catholic youth of this generation.

The mass was then immediately followed by the main highlight for the night- the Liveloud concert itself. Kuya Noli Manuel, the band and worship leader for this year’s Liveloud first delivered a very powerful exhortation by acknowledging the presence of the Lord just like the sound of the trumpet in Jericho. And so the singing begun like shouts of Israelites giving thanks to God. Lights illuminated, pleasing sounds from music instruments heard and triggered excitement, top of the lungs singing covered the whole WTC, but silence with the Lord remained in the hearts of everyone present.

To testify that it is actually possible to tear down the walls in our lives despite the pain and betrayal, Brother JV Monzon from Cavite shared about being molested at age 15 by the person he trusted once. From there, he experienced isolation and trust issues for he was consumed by anger and brokenness. He was convinced to be living a double life and thought that he could not anymore let go. But by God’s grace, he did. He eventually realized that there were people who never left his side and never gave up on him becoming the best of himself. At point of surrender, God’s love shattered the walls in his life.

Another sharer bravely took the stage and talked about the time when he most doubted the plans of the Lord in his life. Brother Lester Guillermo from Mindanao had almost lost his track when he found out about his father’s disloyalty in his family by having an affair with another woman. He questioned the Lord, but sooner realized that God was leading his life to where it should be. Truly, with no walls surrounding his heart, he began rebuilding relationship with his family. He surrendered and claimed that God can only best take care of his family.

When confronted with inevitable trials and nuisances, most especially when they occur in the least expected moment in our lives, let us never submit ourselves to the yolk of slavery by sinning and eventually forget about the times when we have encountered and became happy with the Lord. Together with God and the people who love you around, you can tear down the walls that hinder you from receiving God’s never ending mercy and unconditional love. Ü

Love Is a Sweet Sacrifice

People often ask: “Why let people suffer?”

Some would think of suffering as a form of punishment that entails nothing but pain, burden and hardships. Through suffering that some make themselves believe that something is being taken away from them without gaining from it. And worse, some consume themselves to the notion that they undergo challenges for nothing which is not true at all.

If people would just put themselves on the brighter side, they would see suffering as an expression of love. It is also in fact a verb of love. Three probable special reasons might help enlighten you on this matter:

1.   No suffering is permanent.
I have a friend who once told me that the more he experience suffering, the more he finds reasons to keep on moving ahead for be believes that God is in constant work in his life. He considers every trial in his life as a blessing for it is where he finds God’s comfort and assurance of real companionship.

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.”
-2Corinthians 4: 8-10

2.      You suffer because God wants you to grow more in strength and in character.
Those who experience the toughest times in their lives are actually blessed for they get the chance to discover more of their capacities as individuals. Suffering is not for us to burn our egos down, deprive us from freedom to be happy, nor to put our lives into plight. Rather, it is an advantage for our growth in strength and in character.

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
-1Peter 5:10

3.      You suffer because God believes that you can do more.
God believes that you are more than what you believe you are. He has better plans for you that’s why you’re hurting. You might not fully grasp it now, but as long as you put and trust in the Lord, no explanation can be enough.

Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.” -2Timothy 2: 3-4

Rejoice in every turbulence that you encounter and remain steadfast in God’s love. That way, you will never go wrong.
